The Department of Economics Annual Report 2024-25 presents an overview of the Department’s major developments, achievements, and initiatives throughout the academic year. These activities were designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical. The Department of Economics continued its commitment to academic excellence, experiential learning, and community engagement throughout the 2024–2025 academic year. This year was marked by successful academic initiatives, research projects, and the organization of innovative student-led programs such as the FoodFest Exhibition and Sale.
01. Taste and Treasure FoodFest – Exhibition & Sale , 27th March, 2025
The department organized a Taste and Treasure FoodFest – Exhibition & Sale in 27th March, 2025 designed to blend entrepreneurial learning with practical application of economic principles.
Objectives:
- To provide students hands-on experience in market operations, pricing, and consumer behavior.
- To encourage self-reliance, teamwork, and innovation among students.
- To apply classroom concepts like demand and supply, cost analysis, and profit maximization in a real-world setting.
The the program was inaugurated by Inaugurator Shri V.V. Nayak,. In the program Dr. S.S. Guttikar was the chief guest.Participation from over 25 students across all semesters.Stalls featured homemade and regional delicacies, sustainable food items, and traditional recipes.Students analyzed sales data to prepare reports on market trends and consumer preferences.
02. Project Work and Research Activities ,16/06/2025
Under faculty guidance, students undertookindependent and group projectsfocusing on variouseconomic factors and local development issues.
Themes Covered:Impact of Shakti yojana,Employment and Income Generation in the Informal Sector,Impact of Digital Payment Systems on Local Businesses,Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Livelihood,Employee job satisfaction and working process in local industries and Enhanced analytical, data interpretation, and research writing skills among students. Viva-Voce Conducted for B.A. Final Year Students by the Department of Economics. Mr. Eresha R ,Lecturer in Economics,GFGC siddapur , served as the external evaluator for the viva-voce. 12 students have participated in the Viva. Students responded confidently, showcasing their knowledge and effort invested in their projects. The examiner appreciated the quality of work and provided constructive suggestions for improvement.
The academic year 2024–2025 has been a year of experiential learning, creativity, and growth for the Department of Economics. Through initiatives like the FoodFest Exhibition and Sale and focused research projects, students demonstrated their ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications.
