OBJECTIVES :
Physical Education is part and parcel of education.Education without physical activities is incomplete,as human being is neuropsychological unit.Any educational programme will remain hopelessly incomplete if special provisions are not made to make our student fully active. How to make our students healthy, strong, energetic thoroughly practical and efficient -the one way is to introduce physical education in educational institutions.
In schools and colleges,education was purely academic.The student’sgrowth was nobody’s concern.But now it is learnt that the academic exercise without discipline is useless.He becomes careless, irregular, unpractical, lazy, and often slovenly in his habits.
Realizing this, the educationalists stress the need for physical education activities in schools and colleges.
Aim of Physical education is overall development of the student.It should contribute for the physical, social, spiritual and mental development of the students. First and foremost goal of physical education is to contribute useful citizens to the society.It should also produce very good national and international players in different games.
ACTIVITIES :
Knowing all these our college has given importance to physical education activities i.e. games and athletics. Since the inception of the college sports activities are a part and parcel of our college curricular. Sports activities are conducted regularly throughout year. Staff members are interested with different sports activities. Well-versed staff members actively participate in different sports as players, and guide our students.
HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The department of Physical Education found its inception in the year 1969.Any educational programme will remain hopelessly incomplete if special provisions are not made to make our student fully active. How to make our students healthy, strong, energetic thoroughly practical and efficient -the one way is to introduce physical education in educational institutions.
Since its inception many teachers were part of the department viz Sri V.U Hegde (1977- 2012), Sri Sanjay Gouda (2013- 2014) & Sri T.B Gouda (2014-2018). In the year 2019 Sri Sagar Y Patil is appointed as the new Physical Director.
FOLLOWING ARE THE FACILITIES GIVEN TO THE STUDENTS:
In front of the college, there is playground of 110mtrs X 90mtrs. Twohundred meter running track and places are provided for throwing and jumping events.
There is a 40 X 20 Indoor Sports Room.There is a two Table Tennis boards, and Five Carrom boards.
There are courts for Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Ball Badminton, Tennis court, and Cricket pitch.
The players of all the teams participating at the inter collegiate level are given uniforms and equipment’s as per the requirement of the game
The players are given TA & DA to meet their daily diet requirements.
The players who have contributed the most of the college in the sports are given the Best sportsman and Best sportswomen award every year.
At the time of admission, the physical Director gives information about facilities on sports. By seeing their physical standards and their interest in different games, previous participation, and achievements, they are properly guided. Necessary guidance is provided with proper coaching, training and asked to practice regularly in leisure hours, after or before college hours.
Then there will be a selection Trails in Athletics and games for college team formation. The selected players are given fixed time for practice and training. Seeing their Practice, their performance, and behavior, they will be sent for Zonal and Inter-Collegiate tournaments. At the end of the year, there will be Annual sports competitions both class-wise and section wise.
We have two-day college Athletic-meet. The sports meet is held in accordance with Olympic Theme. Annual function for prize distribution is arranged.
Special honor is made to distinguished sportsman/women who contribute in bringing laurels in intercollegiate, zonal, and inter zonal competitions.
